Biodiversity biosystematics, and ecology of Canadian Coleoptera.
This volume includes fourteen research articles on Canadian
Coleoptera, mainly on the families Staphylinidae, Leiodidae,
Histeridae, Nitidulidae, Cucujidae, Phalacridae, Silvanidae,
Laemophloeidae, Tetratomidae, several aquatic groups, and others. An
introductory editorial traces the history of scientific research and
indicates areas of future inquiry. The papers address various
questions with respect to the distribution, dispersal,
zoogeographical status, phenology, and bionomics of Canadian
Coleoptera, the role of saproxylic beetles in forest ecosystems, and
invasive species in native habitats. The answers to these questions
have important economic and environmental consequences. The book is
addressed to coleopterists, ecologists, biogeographers, and
conservationists.
