About the role:

Pensoft is looking for a motivated and energetic front-end software developer to join our IT team in Sofia, Bulgaria. The role involves working on Pensoft’s innovative signature scholarly publishing platform ARPHA, journal and project websites and applications. The employee will be reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

Contracting freelancers is also possible under special conditions.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience with Angular;
  • Experience with Webpack/Rollup or similar JS bundler.

Advantages:

  • Experience with Laravel;
  • Masters or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar;
  • Experience with AWS/MS Azure/Google Cloud platforms.

Science/Policy Communication Consultant (Brussels, BE)

About the role:

For our project management team in Brussels, Pensoft is looking for a Science/Policy Communication Consultant, who believes that science must play a stronger role in policy decisions. As part of the recognised open science publisher and technology provider with a strong EU projects communication team, the selected candidate will be well-positioned to leave an impact on EU policy. This job is also ideal for a flexible self-employed person.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the implementation of communication and dissemination activities of scientific projects to increase their impact on the science/policy interface;
  • Provide relevant context and content to the project communication outputs by scouting and horizon-scanning a range of EU policy issues (i.e. biodiversity, climate, restoration, sustainability, data and knowledge management);
  • Compile scientific knowledge and data into website content, policy briefs, factsheets and reports to summarise project results to underpin policy advice that connects scientists, decision-makers and stakeholders;
  • Organise and facilitate business meetings and calls;
  • Create, develop and nourish a network of useful professional contacts;
  • Other related activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience with research projects’ communication, dissemination and exploitation strategies and plans (e.g. Horizon Europe or similar);
  • Aptitude for public relations and stakeholder engagement;
  • Proactive networking;
  • Demonstrable skills in preparing targeted high-quality texts for press releases, news and blogs on relevant topics in English;
  • Demonstrable effectiveness in social media management and community building;
  • Talent to create and present impactful videos, presentations, infographics and talks;
  • Self-organisation skills necessary to record and report on work-related data.
